The castle of Ali Pasha

Ali Pasha Castle, located on a hill between the villages of Anthousa and Agia, about five kilometers northwest of Parga, was built in 1814 by Ali Pasha of Ioannina as a military stronghold during the siege of Parga. Access to the castle is possible by taking a train that departs from the beach of Parga. Visitors should note that they enter the castle grounds at their own risk, and it is recommended to wear good footwear. If the train is not running, driving to the castle in a hire car is an option, but be aware that some sat navs may take you through the tiny roads of Anthousa village. There is also a footpath from a nearby car park that takes you 1300 m uphill to the castle ruins.
