Caves of Persephone

The caves of Persephone are located along the coast of Ammoudia beach and are accessible by boat.

The boat trip starts from the river Acheron and passes by the Caves of Persephone, which are located just outside the mouth of the river in the Ionian Sea.

According to mythology, Hades found an opportunity in one of these caves and grabbed Persephone, the daughter of Zeus, while she was swimming naked.
